The other day I went to pay for electricity here in Nairobi. As I approached the cashier, I practiced over and over again what I would say in Kiswahili. When I was ready to make my purchase, I proudly went up to her and announced in Kiswahili that I would like to “eat electricity”. She and another lady nearby laughed with delight…oh well..another mistake made with a million more to go!
